Y'shtola, Night's Blessed (Esper Control) Bracket 3 MTG Proxy Commander Deck

Y'SHTOLA, NIGHT'S BLESSED - ESPER DRAIN CONTROL

Every counterspell this deck casts also drains the table for 2. Then it
draws a card.

Y'shtola, Night's Blessed is a control commander with a clock built in.
Whenever you cast a noncreature spell with mana value 3 or more, she deals 2
damage to each opponent and you gain 2, and at the end of any turn where a
player lost 4 or more life, you draw a card. This is an Esper spellslinger
shell built to make that trigger happen every turn, including everyone
else's. It is a Bracket 3 deck: two Game Changers, no tutors, no fast mana
past Sol Ring, no two-card infinite. It wins by attrition, and it is very
good at attrition.

The deck is roughly forty instants. Undermine, Rewind, Unwind, Archmage's
Charm and Spell Swindle counter the thing; Anguished Unmaking, Baleful
Mastery, Deadly Rollick, Curtains' Call and Snuff Out remove it. Every one
of them is a drain trigger. Delney, Streetwise Lookout doubles it to 4
damage and 4 life per spell, which turns on the end-step draw by itself.
Valeria Richards, Precocious makes noncreature spells cost 1 less and draws
off the first one each turn. Curiosity or Ophidian Eye on Y'shtola draws a
card for every opponent she hits. High Fae Trickster and Valley Floodcaller
let Time Spiral, Dig Through Time, Treasure Cruise and Painful Truths go off
at instant speed on someone else's turn.

When the drain is not fast enough, it borrows a win. Treachery takes the
biggest creature on the table and untaps the lands you spent on it. Reins of
Power swaps boards at instant speed for a surprise lethal swing. Irenicus's
Vile Duplication, Multiversal Recruitment and Quantum Misalignment copy
Y'shtola or a stolen bomb for double triggers. Metallurgic Summonings and
Shark Typhoon leave a Construct or a Shark behind every spell, Alela,
Cunning Conqueror and Fire Nation Occupation make bodies for casting on
opponents' turns, and Keep Watch refills the hand.

The engine is paid for by Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Fellwar Stone, Talisman
of Dominance, Talisman of Hierarchy, Talisman of Progress, Gilded Lotus and
Relic of Legends, over a mana base of shocks, fetches and Otawara, Soaring
City. Rhystic Study and Black Market Connections keep the hand full, Fierce
Guardianship is the free counter while Y'shtola is on board, Misdirection
and Force of Despair cover you when you are tapped out, and Divine Reckoning
and Deadly Tempest reset a board that gets ahead of the clock.
